France in Despair

Raymond Domenech out of ideas...and now out of the job. End of an era for the Blues. The journalists will definitely not miss Mr.Antipathy, the fans definitely won't miss him either. Too bad that the past cannot be canceled, It will take some time to heal the fracture of the 2010 French adventure. An early elimination is not the only problem in the French side. "Shame", "cowards" and "ignorant lot" are some of the titles in the French Gazette after the poor results obtained during the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.

Seems as though the squad is in dis accord and not in harmony with one another. The draw against Uruguay was the catalyst of the French problems.

Reliable sources found out that Frank Ribery, Anelka and Henry were not happy of Gourcuff  being present in the starting line-up. His absence in the 2nd round against Mexico could only confirm the fact that they did influence the coach's final decision. Former football star Zizou Zidane spent a few words for the French coach Domenech describing him as a selector and not a coach. The fact of keeping Lyon winger Govou in the starting line-up even though having a considerably average performance this year further annoyed the supporters.

The French Football Federation was informed by players who witnessed an incident where Nicolas Anelka used offensive language to coach Domenech during the Mexico-France half time break. The Chelsea striker was then sent home for this incident and banned from playing the last fixture against hosts South Africa.

The disaster was completed when at the final match the Blues suffered a 2-1 defeat from the Bafana Bafana, positioning themselves last in Group A with just a point in the whole World Cup.

On the eve of the match, Domenech had called for France to play with honor and dignity in their final match... well the coach himself didn't follow any of  those principles after turning his back on South African coach Parreira who had approached him for shacking his hand at the end of the game.

Quite a few puzzles to rearrange for newly appointed coach Laurent Blanc, although pundits predict that he is the right man to change the Blue's future adventures. Blanc has shared great memories in football already, with careers in teams like Internazionale, Manchester United and for France as well. The former defender currently coaches Bordeaux and was even one of the possible post-Mourinho candidates to takeover Internazionale. Goodluck Blanc!
