Inter: A 'midfield triumph'
nter Milan still struggling to find their form this season put up a show at the San Siro against Parma. The match gave a good performance from both sides in the early minutes of the game. Hernon Crespo, former Inter Milan player who recieved a warm welcome from his ex fans before the game, were left gaping when the Argentian gifted Parma with an early 4th minute goal. A cold shower for the defending Serie A champions and more worries for Inter coach Rafa Benitez.
The home side tried finding space in the Parma defence but little seemed to be the outcome. The absence of players like Maicon, Julio Cesar and Samuel were definitely visible. With more than 12 players not available for the coach Benitez, today finally the fans get to see Esteban Cambiasso in the formation and Thiago Motta at least on the bench.
Dejan Stankovic levelled the score with a long range strike and a lucky deflection to stun goal keeper Antonio Mirante. A sign of relief for Inter quickly turned to a celebration as the Serbian midfielder out in a second. His specialty as always, a long range shot converted from a tricky pass by Inter's youth team talent Biabiany. Along with the goals Inter grew with time taking more ease in controlling the game.
A threatening corner kick taken by the golden boy Wesley Sneijder gave another chance for the Inter fans to celebrate. On his first presence after a long injury Esteban Cambiasso put into the net a crucial deflection coming off Ivan Cordoba's head.
On the end of the first 45 minutes Crespo stole the show again to warn Inter that the winner was yet to be decided. Tension was rising in the game as Parma missed a few opportunities while the home side struggled to find their forward Goran Pandev who replaces Milito due to injury and Samuel Eto' due to his 3 match ban.
On the 76th minute of play Benitez gives a chance to Motta to get back some action after a lifelong lasting injury to his foot. On the 77th minute a dangerous long distant free kick from Snejder put the keeper to struggle to clear the ball. In an attempt to control the ball Pandev gave it backwards, lucky to find Thiago Motta, who struck with all his might assuring the ball go all the way into the back of the net. Another big sign of relief to find Motta already in form and with his usual flair for goal!
The saviour came to Inter's rescue again. Hats off for his commanding presence in the game, Dejan Stankovic went for his hattrick. 3 goals this season for Deckie, all of which coming in this game. A standing ovation for the Dutch midfielder Sneijder, to pick such a through ball from an acute angle and 6 players between himself and the Serbian.
The score was on their favour and it all became easy from then on. A great performance from Parma as well, unlucky to go 2 goals down off deflections. A final triumph for Inter that today saw 3 midfielders contributing 5 goals for their club's record books.
